St. Augustine
There was an iconic figure on the landscape of early St. Augustine who called up Paul James to design a restaurant. John Frazier owned a significant swath of the land surrounding the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and attractions like the St. Augustine Jail, the Fountain of Youth, and his own favorite, the Planetarium. So it did not go without notice, and some considerable resistance that Paul, who was a relative new comer to the Oldest City, was chosen to design one of the few new structures ever built near this part of the Historic Area. Situated right on St. Georges St. and less the 100 yards from the historic City Gates, it had to meet every historic guide line, and blend seamlessly with the era the buildings in this area were to represent.
