The Hunter Residence
St. Augustine
Jack Hunter was an author, and a famous one at that. His first novel was The Blue Max later made into a movie. He dabbled in water colors, painted a cover image for the book, and wrote 17 novels, including The Ace, published in 2008. He was reserved and withdrawn as authors often are, as he spent many days and hours immersed in worlds he researched, and of lives he was meant to depict. He spoke fluent German, and was accustom to the finest advise where design was concerned. At the time, he was working with a renowned Architect from an Ivy League school. But he was not enthused with the work he was shown. So Paul was asked to design a specific style residence, in which his wife could deal in antiques, and he could write in solitude on the upper floor. The house was to be in the simplest of early St. Augustine style architecture. The design was well received, built well, and served as his final residence.
