The Hartmann Residence
Ormand Beach
A Swiss Aeronautical Molecular Engineer had a vision for his beach side property; one which had numerous vaulted ceilings with steeply pitched roof areas to enclose a living space for he and his wife. Paul was ask for his ideas for the property, in an area largley open to both sides at the time. The ocean front setting was zoned residential, but had significant limitations due to a Costal Construction Setback administered by the Corps of Engineers. The design was a stark and daring departure from the Owner’s original concept. One which Paul sketched briefly on light transparant design paper, using numerous over lays and color and shadowing views with marker and colored pencil. He was not sure of the reaction he might receive, but the design was crisp, contemporary and of an Internation design character that he had always hoped to see built. It was presented without pretense, and recieved with enthusiasm.
