Radio City

Ocala

The name was derived from one of the most recent uses the 20,000 s.f. building had seen, as a local Radio station. It had also been used for many other purposes, from car dealers to church and day care facilities. But a forward thinking adjoining neighboor assumed the improvements to the largely run down and nearly abandon building by retaining DSI to provide a preliminary design and divide the spaces into useable areas. The program entailed creating a new facade to comport with the trend down town, toward Art Deco and Art Nouveau styling. An adjoing unused street, designated as a right of way was transformed with a soft structure Arboritum to run the length of the structure, providing both a foot traffic avenue and attraction with flora, fauna and water accents. These were the initial precepts set out, which were considered not in keeping with subsequent investors objectives.
